So, what’s got our goat recently?
Community bins…a rubbish idea.
So says founder Association member Huw Thomas who has an enormous one outside the bay window of his Llandudlinne home which he claims is casting a shadow into his front room ‘from about half past one onwards’. Whilst no longer a member of the SNRA, Huw has kindly let us in on proposals to ‘roll out’ a better bins policy in St Martha’s Parish. LET’S ‘REFUSE’ TO USE THESE MONSTROSITIES BEFORE THEY TAKE OVER OUR STREETS.
Best of luck to Margaret
It’s been a month of highs and lows for Margaret Davies. The SNRA's Deputy General Secretary resigned from her post after getting an amazing 4 numbers in the lottery – only to discover she’d mistakenly checked an old ticket! Further disappointment was to come when she turned up at the following week’s meeting – not realising we’d elected Gwen Williams to fill her post. We wish Margaret all the best for the future.
Triggering debate
Gun crime has increased by an alarming fifteen percent in the last year in St Martha’s parish. Gladys Rhys-Jones will be tackling this fiery subject head-on with youth club leader Kevin Harris on Mike Pearsy’s drivetime show on Wednesday 14th (102.4 Roxy FM – Rocking the Valleys). Kevin was defending the right of schoolkids to congregate outside the video shop on Dragon Hill (even though they’re clearly DEFACING PUBLIC PROPERTY AND INTIMIDATING VULNERABLE MEMBERS OF THE PARISH).
Local swimming pool goes under!
News that the local swimming pool is closing comes as a terrible blow. Swansea North has not produced an Olympic swimmer yet and we must accept that it is now unlikely we’ll turn one out in time for 2012. The pool has been there since the 1930s and has given many generations great joy, but the SNRA grapevine reveals that A MAJOR SUPERMRKET CHAIN PLANS TO DEVELOP ON THIS LAND. We urge all parish goers to boycott this glorified warehouse and support Ravesh's local shop. DON’T BE TEMPTED BY THEIR ‘CONSISTENT QUALITY AND EVERYDAY LOW PRICES’!
Special announcement: Father Vincent is leaving us
Father Vincent has been a pillar of this community for three decades and he’ll be sorely missed. Who will bring the sticky buns on a Wednesday afternoon?! We’ll be holding a goodbye tea at St Martha’s Church Hall on Friday 14th April from 4pm. So come and wish him well before he flies off to Thailand to take up his missionary position. |
